2013 Midwest College Training – The Lord’s Coming
The second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ is a crucial topic from the Bible that has fascinated believers and unbelievers alike for centuries. In approaching such a topic, we must remember to keep the focus on the Lord Himself. We should not be distracted by outward signs or great calamities. Nevertheless, as Matt. 24:33 indicates, the signs predicted by the Bible for the world situation indicate that His coming is very close at hand -- "at the doors." As believers who love the Lord, the Lord's imminent coming should not mainly be a source of fear to us, but a source of hope and encouragement (Tit. 2:13). We must look forward to it with earnest expectation and joy. We must likewise live, making decisions such as where we go to school and what we study in the light of His coming. Furthermore, we must prepare for His coming by holding to His word and be filled with Him by exercising our spirit. When we are filled in this way, we will spontaneously echo the final prayer of the Bible -- "Come Lord Jesus!" (Rev. 22:20).
