Becoming a Shepherd – Howard Higashi

When the life of Christ grows in us, what does it look like? It looks a lot like shepherding. In this fellowship, we go back in time to hear Brother Howard Higashi share on the life of shepherding. He relates some of his experiences shepherding others and offers encouraging fellowship as to why we should always have some younger ones under our care, whether they be new believers, discouraged believers, or younger brothers and sisters in the Lord.

What a wonderful Christ in this dear brother. Though death, he still speaks! Heb 11:4
Thank you. Much blessed and also exposed!

This brother spoke my church life in minutes. I was touched by a lot. I saw things from the perspective of a serving brother and from the perspective of a new one. I am thankful for the wisdom and encouragement to make our mouths imprisoned to Grace. Sometimes we need to be reminded not to let a corrupt word proceed out of our mouths because we can forget when we are in certain surroundings. I was not mindful that some people carry new ones in their hearts all the way to the New Jerusalem. Thank You, Lord Jesus. Being on the cross will issue in fruit bearing. When I heard that I thought about a fish pierced with a stick and cooking over a fire for the enjoyment of others. Earlier a friend told me to consider something from the perspective of others, and I thought about what Brother Higashi said about no one testing the brothers like a new one. I thought about the way others pay attention to the testimony or prophecy of a new one, how proud the shepherding ones are. Lord Jesus, my heart is just so impressed.

1Cor.4:15 brings us from the “practice” to the “heart” of shepherding; from a religious duty to inward parts fo Christ.
