The Beginning and the End – A Bird’s Eye View of Life and Building in the Holy Bible
The central thought of the Bible as seen in its first two chapters of Genesis 1 and 2, and reflected in its last two chapters in Revelation 21 and 22, is life and building. Genesis 1 and 2 reveal a tree of life that was pleasant to the sight and good for food in the middle of Eden - a garden with a flowing river containing gold, bdellium and onyx stones. This delightful scene points to God's intention for man to receive Him as life to be transformed into a building of precious materials. This intention is fulfilled in Revelation 21 and 22 where we see a built-up city of gold, pearl and precious stones containing a tree of life with a flowing river that has become "the holy city, New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven prepared as a bride adorned for her husband (Rev. 21:2)."
