The Crucifixion of Christ

Today we live in an age where self-expression is highly valued. There are many things that we earn for ourselves that can be a cause for boasting: our profession, our education, our ancestry, and many other things. Galatians 6:14 presents another thought. Paul tells us in this verse that his one boast was in the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the world's eyes, this is nonsensical (I Cor. 1:23) but if we see what the Lord endured for us on the cross our eyes will be opened to see the value of the crucified Christ.

I tried to listen to this message after getting into bed at night but I went to sleep while listening. The second night the same happened. But the third night I got through the whole message then I just had to kneel by my bed and pray. As I prayed over what I had heard, Isaiah 53 came to mind and I just thanked the Lord for being wounded for my transgressions, crushed for my iniquities, that the chastening for my peace was upon Him, and that by His stripes, I have been healed. That night I did not go to sleep. I just got up and spent the rest of the night in the grounds of a local school, praying, praising, weeping and singing before the Lord. What a wonderful message!

“When we survey the wondrous cross
On which the Lord of glory died
Our richest gain we count as loss
And pour contempt on all our pride

His dying crimson from His head,
Spreads over His body on the tree
To all the world then I am dead,
And all the world is dead to me.”

    Jesus is Lord!
